Current Roles: Global energy and sustainability leader, focusing on the role technology and innovation play in restructuring markets. Serves on the Board of Exelon (NASDAQ: EXC). Operating Partner for Ajax Strategies, representing them as a Board member for Natel Energy, a hydropower start-up and as a Board advisor to Ojjo, a utility scale solar foundation installer. Senior Partner Emeritus from McKinsey & Company.

Energy and Sustainability Leadership. For 30+ years, served oil, gas, power, renewables, and energy technology clients around the world, driving end to end operational performance improvements, defining regulatory/policy approaches, and crafting strategic priorities to win in restructuring markets. Served briefly as the CEO of the Mission Possible Partnership, focusing on industrial decarbonization. Briefed dozens of corporate Boards as they seek to capture significant growth opportunities and reduce risks in the energy transition.

Global Perspective. During 20+ years with McKinsey, led and grew McKinsey’s Electric Power, Oil and Gas, and Sustainability practices. Advised multiple Fortune 500 oil, electric and gas utilities, National Oil Companies, and leading energy technology innovators. For most of the last decade, served clients on every continent (except for Antarctica) every year.

People Developer. In addition to practice leadership, spent a decade on McKinsey’s Partner Review and Senior Partner Election committees. Led the Firm’s programs to coach and develop new senior partner candidates and played a significant role in electing dozens of new partners and senior partners, especially accelerating McKinsey women into the partnership.

Government Service. From 2009 to 2010, served as the Senior Advisor to the US Secretary of Energy, leading the Recovery Act Implementation with operational responsibility for the Department of Energy’s $35B in Recovery Act appropriations: reviewing more than 30,000 applications and funding more than 5,000 projects to accelerate US clean energy innovation. Led the DOE efforts on a series of interagency policy and regulatory issues.

Public Voice and Network. Writing and speaking extensively on oil, gas, power, sustainability, and energy transitions to Boards, investors, and major global forums, including the 4th OPEC Technical Forum, Astana Economic Forum, Madrid RED Utility Forum, and the Brisbane G20 Economic Summit. A public voice for DOE on energy innovation, testifying to Congress and giving hundreds of press interviews and speeches. Published Resource Revolution: Capturing the Biggest Business Opportunity in 100 years with Stefan Heck in April 2014, arguing that the combination of information technology with industrial technology is changing the way we produce and use natural resources, restructuring energy, agriculture, construction, and transportation markets globally.
